This class has been an incredible experience. I have learned so much about the field of architecture over these few months. At the beginning of the class, I did not even know how a house is built; now I not only understand this, I can create drawings for all of the aspects of house construction, and I can build a scale model.
My favorite part of this class has been the construction of the model house. Though the drawings for the house were interesting, I enjoyed getting my hands on the balsa wood and seeing how everything looks in 3D.
There were several important things that I learned through this class. The biggest one is about teamwork. I learned that there are projects that truly require the complete participation of all of the group members. As project leader, it was my responsibility to make sure that all of the members were working and doing their jobs. Though there were times that people were not helping as much, we pulled off the project very well and did a great job.

I have to say that this project was very interesting. I loved working with my fellow group members and i believed everyone did a wonderful job. This class was very challenging but everyone pulled through and helped accomplish everything. My reflections on this class is that its for someone who wants to be an architect especially.
I loved the project and my favorite part on this project is actually building the model of our house. It was very artsy and that was the best part. This project and class was fun. Before the project, we were drawing houses and building floor plans for practice before we start the project. That was very interesting. Mr. Reece helped us on many of the drawings.
One thing i enjoyed about the drawings was the elevations. That was fun and actually drawing the details on the elevation was cool. I had art for four years and i enjoyed drawing houses with detail. Another technique he showed us was projecting the lines down to make the right proportions of the house. Also projecting the lines on a door or a window was great because that made sure that those particular items were in the right place.
Another thing he told us to try and do is the ProjectDragonFly where we had to build our house and add interior items in our house. I used dragonfly and made our house come to life almost. That was extremely fun because it was almost as being an interior designer. Thats a picture up top of the completed drawing.
Working with autocad was not my best subject but many people helped me work on it and showed me the buttons that performed different tasks. On the project, i was able to work with autocad and i did the elevation part of the project. That gave me the chance to help me gain more skills with autocad. Working with autocad helped me to see what the house would look like head on. I enjoyed autocad after a while and would love to do it again.
Overall, the class was challenging but fun and interesting. I enjoyed working with Mr. Reece and the students here were great. We had fun in the class and i will defiently miss it.

Final Reflection

This architecture class has given me a new and unprecedented view of the architectural career and the work that goes into each drawing and project. The experience that I have received has been extraordinarily informative and has by far exceeded my expectations in the depth that we have worked towards in this class. Every project has been done with the highest level of realism and we have actually experienced a sampling of this career in the real world. When I began this class I was expecting a watered down, over simplistic version of architecture. I couldn’t have been more wrong. This class was difficult but rewarding, the lessons I learned have been useful in my decision of whether or not to pursue this career, and that was this courses primary goal.
This course began by firmly establishing or foundations in drafting, anyone who couldn't remember had the chance to catch up while others refined their skills. This progressed into more difficult projects that introduced the skills necessary to complete actual architectural drawings. This instruction also included the basic methods of house planning and the thought that goes into each section. This is an example of how in depth the architecture class went, I would have expected to just copy drawings without the knowledge of why I was doing the task. After we mastered some of the basic skills, we began to create designs by hand for a house. Each of these related to each other and we learned the impact of our mistakes on the rest of the project.
After we learned how to design a house we had the direct opportunity to apply our new skills by doing a final project with relatively free reign on our ideas and limitations. Our final project was the culmination of all of our learning. I would absolutely suggest that anyone with an interest in architecture should take this class.
